Fishing in Beniarrés and visiting Alcoy

Last weekend my new spanish friends offered to go to some beautiful place called Beniarrés. The Beniarrés reservoir, a good destination for fishing basses in the Region of Valencia. But it is also very beautiful place for a picknics and calm time spent alone or in a good company.

In the Region of Valenciana, this small reservoir created for multiple orange trees plantations in this area. Apart from its importance for the agriculture of this region, Beniarrés offers another attraction for fishing fans since in this reservoir there are good populations of both cyprinids and basses.

It was january 12 and weather was just perfect for picnic, you can take a look on pictures yourself how nice weather is, it actually went up to +22°C. I was amazed by nature in Spain in January , there are even blooming trees ( I shared picture with thet too). Really everything so much more different from my nordic home nature. While been driving to the destination mountains was going up and down and I made quite nice photos for you to check, it is really amazing.

Later after our picnic and fishing which was quite entertaining and fun because I never tried it this way before we went to the city Alcoy. Alcoy is located only 54 kilometres from Alicante and 105 from Valencia. It has an outstanding mediaeval and Modernist heritage, and its emblematic bridges and it was on our way so we had to stop there and check some more. I made quite a few photos for you too, I love such architecture which also allows to feel a spirit of a city.

The town's appearance today directly recalls the pioneering city of the Spanish Industrial revolution.

Plaza de España square is the heart of the city which you can see on photo too.

Alcoy is mostly known as the city of the bridges, a name that truly speaks about the reality of this town, which has more than twenty bridges. It makes sense because, as it is placed in the middle of a valley and surrounded by mountains, these bridges make the life of its inhabitants way easier. I have been only to the bridge Viaducto de Canalejas it is not the biggest one there but also pretty big and looking cool. Most popular bridge in Alcoy city is San Jordi Bridge, Art Deco style, one of the most famous ones in whole Spain.

Also says it has a delicious gastronomy but it was too late and we managed just to have a few drinks in a local Alcoy bar.

So here is my adventure, I didn't catch any carp or other fish but day was fun and productive, check my gallery and hope you find some useful tips for yourself also.
