War Memorial of Korea, South Korea

The War Memorial of Korea is located in Yongsan-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, South Korea. It opened in 1994 on the former site of the army headquarters to exhibit and memorialize the military history of Korea.

I visited this museum in 2013. Museum is very informative and huge inside out! It has four above ground floors and two underground floors in the main building.13,000 items are displayed in six halls under different themes: Memorial Hall, War History, Korean War, Expeditionary Forces, ROK Armed Forces, and Large Equipment, plus the outside exhibition area. Easily a half day tour, a lot of rooms with exhibits, there is a real combat equipment, equipped area for watching documentaries about the war in Korea. Perfect place to closely learn about history and sacrifice of Korean people.

The museum itself is definitely more like a memorial.

But mostly I enjoyed the street exposition. A lot of different equipment, you can even go inside the armored personnel carrier and climb on tanks, warship and warplanes including a B52D from the Vietnam War. This is probably the best war museum I ever visited!

Food in the attached restaurant was OK mainly something fast but reasonably priced but rather to take some snacks with you if you know that you might get hungry because the place is very interesting and very big so better make sure that you are not in a rush.

I noticed that I didn't share anything from South Korea like at all! So I am planning more galleries from this exotic country. Stay Tuned!

The Tower of Korean War

Symbolizing the image of a bronze sword and a tree of life. The bronze sword represents the time-honored history and the warrior spirit. The tree of life symbolizes the prosperity and peace of the Korean people.

Statues Defending the Fatherland

The statues represent 38 people from all walks of life who overcame the Korean War and depict the suffering and pain caused by the war while embodying the sublime spirit of sacrifice and dedication to the defense of the fatherland of past patriots.

Referring to the warship
