It’s been 2 weeks I’m going out!

06.04.2020Finland Helsinki tour
1. Market Square
This place is one of best known market squares outdoors in the whole Europe. It is impressive and must visit the location!
Here you will find fresh seafood which you are able to buy sometimes right from the boat, lapland food, different souvenirs, knitted clothes, wooden products and much more.
I tried lapland food and soup from reindeer, it was very tasty and you can eat it on wooden tables outside right on the market square.
2. Uspensky Cathedral
Uspensky Russian Orthodox Cathedral is a total eye-catcher. This building you will see almost from every corner of market square and port.
Beautiful masterpiece! It is a building made from bricks, got multiple towers and spires topped by 13 gold cupolas.
I made a photo only on the outside and sadly didn't manage to get inside to see some more but people are saying it is very beautiful inside too
3. Helsinki Railway Station
Railway station of Helski also looks unusual and worth checking out it’s original art. Railway station was designed by Eliel Saarinen and was especially notable for American tourists because it is a 48-meter-high clock tower. It was the first of several designs that finally resulted in Saarinen's 1922 Chicago Tribune Tower - America's first skyscraper.
4. Helsinki Cathedral
This was basically the first building we runned into! It is def another one must see in Helsinki! One of the most impressive buildings here and I also think this one is my favorite too.
It was built in the mid-19th century and was called St. Nicholas’ Cathedral, in honour of the Russian Tsar Nicholas 1st - he was also Grand Duke of Finland, but after Finnish independence in 1917 “simply” became Helsinki Cathedral.
Again I didn't go inside just admired it from the outside.Good that I have photos other ways no one would believe me. :D
5. Senate Square
Right here you will find Senate Square with Alexander II in the middle and it is quite a popular place for street musicians.
Look around the square and you will see: the Government Palace, the main building of the University of Helsinki and Sederholm House which is the oldest surviving building in central Helsinki dating from 1757.
6. Esplanadi
Locals know this place as “Espa”. It is a green place right in the middle of the city. Here tourists and locals come to make some picnics, relax and enjoy the atmosphere of summer or nice weather but it is also amazing simply for a walk.
Often you will see life musicians here but in the summer may enjoy local cafeterias around the place.
In July you can visit Jazz-Espa - a month-long jazz festival. Also may visit in June for the Marimekko Fashion Show.
To be honest here is so much more to see in Helsinki but back it was early spring and I was on a road trip so we had only 2 days to explore the city. I enjoyed the food, tried unusual things which I didn't see before and I gladly would see this place again.
