“Traveling is still the most intense mode of learning”

— Kevin Kelly

Let me introduce you to Dresden city! One of the most beautiful cities I have seen on this planet with no doubt if not Most beautiful! Amount of impressive buildings here is incredible! I love the style and atmosphere in Dresden and there are so many reasons. Let me mention few and tell you more about the place.

Dresden

Dresden is 813 yo and it is the capital of the Greman free state of saxony, with around 550,000 inhabitants. It is the 12th most populous city of Germany and fourth largest by area after Berlin, Hamburg and Cologne. Mayor center of culture with great history. Dresden was almost completely destroyed at the end of the second world war. Also Was hidden behind the iron curtain for many years. Now this city stands out in it's most beautiful splendor. And ready to show us its beauty and charm. The old Tom laid the foundation and developed a history of nine hundred years of power.

First place I visited was Pfunds Dairy - the most beautiful dairy shop in the world" is confirmed by an entry in the Guinness Book of Records. The interior decoration of the dairy shop founded by the Pfund brothers in 1880 comprises fantastically embellished tile paintings in the style of neo-Renaissance. The hand-painted motifs on the walls, floor and shop counter were produced in the art department of the Dresden stoneware factory Villeroy and Boch.

Above the Pfunds Dairy shop you will find Pfunds Cafe and Restaurant. JHere you will be able to try local dishes and interesting drinks such as MIlk GRappa. Have to say that food here is excellent.Restaurant has menu in russian and englih. Prices are affordable not cheap not expensive. Very welcoming staff and great atmosphere.

Then of course Zwinger museum!

Zwinger is major attraction in dresden city. Zvinger buildings contains library, art gallery, armory and much more. The main entrance and one of the landmarks of Dresden in the Crown Gate whose gilded symbol of royal authority is borne by Polish eagles. In the niches of crown statues representing the four seasons.

Behind the French Pavilion to the right of the staircase can be seen as a collection of sculptures. the "Bath of the Nymphs" is one of Permoser's major works. In each of niches eight delightful nymphs regard the artistic fountains, themselves secretly observed by satyrs, demons and fish-like monsters. The lively scene around the waterfall symbolises the sensuality of the Baroque era which Augustu's sculptor Permoser has so masterfully immortalised.

Semper Opera House was built at last twice as the first building was destroyed by fire in 1869. In the following year Richard Warger came to Dresden as conductor and conducted first performances of his operas - Renzi,The flying Dutchman and Tannhauser.

During the air raids in february 1945 the opera house was destroyed again to rubble but this time with the rest of the city. It took 40 years before it was rebuilt with it larger original facade.

Another thing to check is Monumental mosaic The procession of Princess, made of 25,000 Meissen porcelain tiles showing the rules of the house of Wettin . That reaches 35 Saxon Dukes ,Princes and KIngs. It did survive thru a lot of events(wars)in Dresden.

The Church of Our Lady was the most important church construction of Protestantism and symbolizes the center of the old city. This symbol of civil pride is God's house and a memorial. The largest stone down north of the Alps. It's founder Martin Luther. In february 1945 it collapsed completely, destroyed but perfectly rebuilt thanks to donations. In fact, today the church is made for 45% of original pieces.

Now lets see The Balcony of Europe 10 meters above the bank of the river Elbe and accessed via external staircase from Castle Square. This magnificent city has such a beauty that it has been described as the Venice of the last and Florence on the Elbe. People love to hang around here and there is no wonder it is really nice to have a dinner or a walk along the river.

Finaly want to tell you about hotel Artushof

My stay here was very pleasant and if you want something in german style with a german atmosphere then that is the place! Breakfast is normal nothing mega special but tasty and satisfying. If you are still not happy with that then always can visit a restaurant right in the same building of this hotel and there are really amazing dishes to experience. Name of restaurant - Estancia Grillhouse.

I love this city, especially the history of this place. So after visiting it, I can saysuch words - "to build something really big and impressive you need to do serious sacrificing". People here did prove they have a huge spirit and strong beliefs and that is so inspiring!
