Lyon city – France

It's my first visit in France and it happened to see Lyon city first.

Here I prepared top 5 things to see and do in Lyon city:

1. Check out old town and panoramic view of the Lyon.

Lyon is the second tourist destination in France after Paris. This city got 2000 years of history and is the 3rd largest city in France after Paris and Marseille. Lyon is a UNESCO World Heritage site and got largest ensemble of Renaissance buildings in Europe. No wonder this place attracting so many tourists including me.

2. Visit Museum of Cinema Miniature. It in the heart of Lyon.

Here you’ll find more than 100 very realistic miniature scenes created by European artists. This is the only collection of its kind in Europe and truly very special and interesting.

It is located in the centre of Lyon city so it will be hard to miss. Museum itself is in an old building and I did enjoy walking around stairs up and down.

My favorite miniature to check was from ALIEN movie, this thing looks pretty real standing in the dark room, it is crazy cool!
Ticket prices was 9,50 eur for adult person but I personaly think it is worth it!

3. Visit Bouchon!

As the gastronomic capital of France, it is a city with a great selection of a nice restaurants!

Bouchons are typical restaurants in Lyon city, here you can try traditional dishes in a chill atmosphere. Food here was very tasty, service can be slow but overall pretty great!

4. The “secret” Garden of Montreal or Jardin du Belvédère.

Normally locals calling it Chairs Garden, it is also one of the most favorite places of locals. It is tricky because the entrance of this garden is located at the back of a car park (as if it’s hidden) but if you find it then you see really beautiful panoramic view over the city.

Garden was opened in 2001 to mark an event of 20th anniversary of relationship between Lyon and Montreal. So the Quebec sculptor Michel Goulet created several chairs for this garden as a special place to sit and contemplate life.

It was opened in 2001 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the relationship between Montreal and Lyon.

5. Try special Lyon city sweets Pink Pralines - caramelised almonds coated with a pink sugar!

These things are very sweet! Caramelised almonds are also added to traditional Lyonnais desserts like Tarte aux Pralines or Brioche Praline this is one way and the best way to get it as traditional as it can be.

All this stuff I managed to do in just one day! It was a fun quest and totally manageable.

If you are planning to come here by car then this is really not a problem, actually I find it even more comfortable because a parking is right in the center of the city! Parking for 6 - 5h did cost me 17,55 EUR. So not very cheap but still comfortable.

Everything else you can find in a walking distance, very easy. Many different restaurants, coffee places and more you will find right here in this town. Little cosy parks with beautiful panoramic views, some pretty impressive buildings to look at and beautiful walk along Saone river or even take a ferry or a boat would be a great idea too. I did not manage to do everything here but one day I still did a lot.
